Full-Time Work

For the first 12 years of my career I worked full-time as a copywriter at a handful of agencies, including Wieden + Kennedy (Portland) and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (twice) — writing and producing work for Nike, Coke, Got Milk?, Chevy, the NBA, and more.

NIKE

Nike wanted to tap into the passion around high school football by revisiting the glory days of some of the NFL’s biggest stars. Agency: Wieden +Kennedy.

CHEVY

Chevy wanted a TV spot to celebrate their 100-year anniversay. Below that, some print ads celebrating their transition into the electric world. Agency: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

COCA-COLA

You know those boring ads that play in cinemas prior to the movie? Coke asked us to do some. And we decided to make them not boring. Agency: Wieden + Kennedy.

THE NBA

Sports footage is pretty predictable. But if you slow it down and add some pretty words it’s less predictable. Agency: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

EA SPORTS

Half the shots in the first spot are of Tiger’s body double. (Ask me sometime how we forgot to get a recording of Tiger’s voice—and his response.) Agency: Wieden + Kennedy.

POWERADE

Powerade asked us for a TV commercial. We responded with a 30-minute infomercial that ran dozens of times on MTV. Agency: Wieden + Kennedy.

GOT MILK?

Long before collabs were all the rage Pillsbury asked if Got Milk? wanted to do one. The shoot featured a semi trailer filled with ovens, churning out batch after batch of camera-ready cookies. Agency: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

RICHTER7

A print campaign from yesteryear for an agency I worked at in Salt Lake City. Still love the visual simplicity.

Back in the day there was this newfangled thing called ”radio ads”. This won the $100,000 Grand Prize at the annual Radio Mercury Awards. Agency: Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
